Juan Dixon Suspended for Steroids

Juan Dixon (1998-2002), who has been playing for Unicaja in the Spanish ACB league and the Euroleague since last month, has been suspended indefinitely by FIBA for testing positive on a steroid test. From the Baltimore Sun:
Juan Dixon, Maryland's all-time leading scorer, has tested positive for the steroid nandrolone, his Spanish team Unicaja announced.

The Baltimore native took the drug test in Greece in November, before he joined the Malaga-based team, Unicaja said on its Web site.

Dixon, who went to Calvert Hall, was informed of the positive result several days ago, and the International Basketball Federation decided to suspend him on Friday.

His suspension is indefinite until further notice.

Here's the team's press release (translation). Dixon was averaging 12.7 points per game in 3 Euroleague games and 18.8 points per game in 4 Spanish ACB league games since joining the club in January.

Update: The Baltimore Sun has now reported that Dixon's wife says it was an over-the-counter supplement, Juan is staying in Spain awaiting a re-test, and he has not been released by his team so far.

I really really sorry for him. I hope the results are negative. Juan Dixon is wishing to play this mid season of Euroleague Basketball 2010.
