Will Bowers Lands in the CBA

Will Bowers (2003-07), whose name I haven't seen in the news since he graduated last spring, was signed by the Albany Patroons of the CBA on November 7:
Will Bowers, a 7'1" Center, recently graduated from the University of Maryland. While Will was at Maryland, the Terrapins were the 2004 ACC Tournament Champions and appeared in the 2005 NIT Semifinals. Prior to signing with the Patroons, Bowers played in the Iranian Super league.

So there you go... he's been off the radar in Iran.

Patroon fans may remember that I previously reported that Byron Mouton played for Albany. He was briefly teammates with Bowers for 5 days, but was then released on November 12.

Nik Caner-Medley Picked by Sioux Falls in NBDL Draft

Nik Caner-Medley (2002-06) was the #6 pick in the recent NBA Developmental League Draft. He will play for the Sioux Falls Skyforce this year. The Sioux Falls Argus Leader covers the full story:
[...] The 6-foot-8 Caner-Medley averaged 15.3 points per game in his final season at Maryland and had foot surgery shortly thereafter. Once healthy, he joined a team in Germany for its postseason and was with the Sacramento Kings during the summer and part of the preseason.

"Being (hurt) your first year out of college, it's easy to fall off the radar a little bit," Caner-Medley said via cell phone. "I felt like I had a good summer league and good training camp. I'm trying to build momentum and be seen."

Nik is currently the only Maryland player on a NBDL roster for this season.
