Rodney Elliott Signs in Australia

Rodney Elliott (1994-98) has signed on in Australia with the Sydney Kings. The Sydney Morning Herald says the coach is happy to have a player with international experience, and they hope to get 20 points a game from him:

Rodney Elliott is a little out of shape but is tall and experienced enough to fill a glaring gap in the Sydney Kings' playing roster.

It has been eight years since the American forward starred for and co-captained his University of Maryland team. Yet the Kings are hoping the prowess Elliott, 30, showed as a Maryland MVP surfaces for them soon. [...]

[Kings Coach Brian] Goorjian said Elliott's experience would count in a team where the average age was 25. "He's not another young one," he said. "He's got around the block. He's played in Italy, Serbia and his last stop was Turkey."

What does Goorjian hope for from the 204-centimetre utility? "Scoring," he said. "We need somebody that we can go to to put points on the board."
